Why we built Astrape
Astrape started in June 2026 as High Dynamic Player: a small Apple TV app made to play HDR video exactly as it was mastered. It grew into a player for every file you own.

The name
Astrape is Greek for lightning
We wanted a Greek name, and one about light. Phos, Greek for light, was taken. Astrape, the flash that lights up the whole sky for a moment, stayed.

From one HDR file to a whole library
